Following graduation in 2011 I first completed a master’s certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, before taking up a post in the NHS with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. I spent 2 years working across a range of specialities within the acute hospital trust, before taking up a senior post in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Since moving to Ireland I have worked in private practice and have also provided physiotherapy for a number of local sports teams including the Roscommon men's senior county football team 2017 & 2018 and the Roscommon county Camogie team 2019.

I ensure I keep myself up to date with the latest evidence base and have recently completed my advanced Pilates instructor course with the APPI. I teach Pilates in the clinic and have a passion for getting people back into physical activity at all levels of participation.

Our Services

Back & Neck Pain

Back and neck pain are among the most common injuries presented at our physiotherapy clinic. Chartered Physiotherapists are highly experienced in treating back and neck pain, and follow the latest evidence-based treatment methods. Examples of back and neck related issues include:

  • Disc-related pain
  • Postural or muscular related pain
  • Joint degeneration
  • Headaches
  • Whiplash
  • Sciatica

The most important part of our assessment is listening to your story; we aim to find out how pain is affecting your life and the factors that aggravate and ease your pain. Treatment approaches include manual therapy, exercise therapy and heat may be used to treat your initial pain. Typically you will also be given an individualised exercise programme to do at home appropriate for your stage of symptoms.

Soft tissue injuries

Soft tissue injuries such as muscle, ligament and tendon injuries are commonly presented. specific examples include:

  • Muscle strains (e.g. quadriceps, hamstring, calf)
  • Tendon injuries (e.g. tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, achilles tendinitis)
  • Ligament injuries (e.g. ankle sprain, knee ligament injury)
  • Shoulder injuries (e.g. rotator cuff related pain, A/C joint problems, frozen shoulder)

Treatment approaches wil vary but include manual therapy, Taping, Heat/Cold Therapy, Ultrasound therapy and exercise therapy.

Occupational Health

At Kinetic physio we have specialist experience in working with workplace related injuries. We can advise on ergonomic issues relating to working environments as well as treat injuries that are negatively impacting upon someones ability work. Examples of methods we use include:

  • exercise advice
  • postural awareness

Post Surgical Rehab

In most cases, surgery is just the beginning of the recovery process. A carefully measured rehabilitation programme will be needed to fully optimise the success of the recovery. At Kinetic physio you will be guided through this challenging process by an experienced chartered physiotherapist. Examples of orthopaedic and general surgeries we treat include:

  • Fracture repairs
  • Hip/knee replacement surgery
  • Spinal surgery
  • ACL reconstruction
  • Knee arthroscopy
  • Shoulder reconstruction
  • Rotator cuff repair

We will liaise closely with your surgeon to ensure that your rehabilitation programme is suitable for you and effective enough to get you back to fitness as soon as possible.

Sports Injuries

At Kinetic Physio we work with athletes across a range of sports and at all levels of participation. I currently provide physiotherapy services for Roscommon County Camogie & Tulsk GAA club and spent 2017 & 2018 seasons working with the Roscommon senior mens county football team. I have a breadth of experience in getting players back to sport in the safest and fastest possible timeframe. We offer a range of services to individuals, teams and clubs, including:

Pilates

Pilates is a popular mat based exercise which is popular with people for strengthening, lengthening and mobilising the whole body. At Kinetic Physio we offer a clinical based Pilates programme with an instructor who is trained in the APPI method. The APPI method is suitable for all ages and levels of ability, even those recovering from or experiencing back pain.

We offer 1:1 Pilates sessions, where the key concepts are taught and exercises are individually assessed to ensure they are being carried out in a safe and effective manner. The rate for this is 50 euro for a 30 minute session and 75 for an hour.

Where can I park?

Parking spaces are available outside the front of the clinic.

What injuries/conditions do kinetic physio treat?

As specialists in Chartered Physiotherapy, we have the experience, knowledge and technical expertise to successfully treat a wide range of conditions.

What should I expect from my first visit?

The first visit involves both an initial assessment of the condition and accompanying treatment. The assessment involves taking a history, followed by a clinical examination. A diagnosis will then be discussed leading on to the establishment of a treatment plan. This plan will also outline what you need to do in your own time to help speed up your progress.

What should I wear?

Loose comfortable clothing is usually best. Depending on part of the body concerned, a pair of shorts and t-shirt may be appropriate. You can change at the clinic.

Do I have to be referred by a doctor?

No, you do not need to be referred by a GP or consultant. You can contact us directly for an appointment. If you have been referred by a GP or consultant, please bring your referral letter / X-Ray / MRI scans / reports if you have them

How many sessions will I need?

It is difficult to predict in advance of your first appointment how many treatments you will need. Your injury/condition will be assessed during your first consultation and a suitable treatment plan will be discussed you. We aim to help you within the minimum number of session needed to achieve your goals.

How much will my treatment cost?

The fee for a physiotherapy consultation and treatment is €60 Payment by cash or debit/credit card.

Can I get an appointment before/after work?

Yes, we offer early morning and late evening appointments (subject to availability). We are also open during lunch.

Do you do home visits?

Yes we can provide visits to clients homes where individuals are not able to attend the clinic. There will be an increased fee for this to afford for travel time and costs.

Is there a late cancellation policy?

Yes, we operate a late cancellation policy so as to minimise late cancellations which in turn prevent another patients from attending the clinic. If you cannot attend your scheduled appointment, please provide us with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Can I claim back the costs of my physiotherapy from my health insurer?

If you have a private health insurance policy, you may be able to claim back some of your physiotherapy costs. Contact your health insurance provider to check you level of cover before your treatment. If you are paying income tax you may also be able to claim physiotherapy as a medical expense on the MED1 form.

Do you take medical cards?

We don’t take medical cards, but patients may be able to claim back some of the costs of their treatment from their private health insurers, Revenue (MED1 form) and Hospital Saturday Fund.
